Privacy Policy — Trailbread
Trailbread (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an idle expedition game for Android, made by TEZZVO, which is responsible for the information described here. This policy explains what happens to your information when you play Trailbread. Questions or requests: privacy@tezzvo.com.
The short version
- Your game is kept on your phone. Your homestead, board, hero and progress are saved on your device. We run no server that holds them.
- No account. You never sign up, sign in or give us your name or email.
- Anonymous usage statistics, on by default, and you can turn them off. They use a random ID, not your name, email or advertising ID, and they include figures about how you play (for example crops, coins, levels and expedition outcomes). Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data.
- Optional rewarded videos. Ads are never forced; you choose to watch one for a reward. They come from Google AdMob, which has its own use of your device’s advertising ID and your consent choices.
- Purchases go through Google Play. To know what you have bought, Trailbread asks RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. It never receives your game.
1. What Trailbread stores, and where
- Your game: your homestead, plots, board, supplies, hero, gear, town, coins and progress, and the record of what happened while you were away. This is stored in Trailbread’s private storage on your phone.
- Your settings, such as theme, sound and touch, the daily reminder and its time, and your choice about usage statistics, are stored on your phone.
- A random ID. If usage statistics are on, Trailbread creates a random ID for this install and keeps it on your phone, so that one player’s events can be told apart from another’s. It is not your name, email, advertising ID or any identifier of your device. It stays on your phone until you uninstall Trailbread or clear its data. If Android backup is on, a reinstall may restore it.
- Save text. Settings → On this device lets you copy your save as text, and paste one back. The text leaves your phone only if you paste it somewhere yourself.
We do not run a server that holds your game, and Trailbread plays fully offline. Reminders and “your hero is back” notifications are scheduled on your phone; they are not sent from a server, and Trailbread does not ask for a push-notification token.
2. When information leaves your phone
- Anonymous usage statistics. Unless you turn them off, Trailbread sends short events to PostHog, an analytics service that works for us. An event says that something happened, for example that the app opened or a session started, which screen you opened, how long the app took to start, that you opened the Shop or completed a purchase, that a rewarded video was shown, or that a save on your phone failed to write. Events also carry figures about how you play, so that we can see where the game is too slow, too fast or confusing: which crop you planted or harvested and how many, how full your silo or board is, merges and the highest tier you made, your level and the day since install, the coins you spent and which piece of gear or building you bought, when you set out on an expedition and for how long, the danger level and the risk band the game showed, how a trip ended and the coins it paid, how many minutes after its planned end you collected it, which step of the tutorial you reached and how long it took (or that you skipped it), how long a session lasted, which notification you opened, and which setting you changed (the name of the setting, never its value). Each event carries the random ID from section 1, the app version, the update version, and basic technical information the analytics software adds, and your IP address, which every internet request carries. By default, the analytics service also derives an approximate location (country and region) from that IP address. Events about ads also carry which ad-experiment group you are in and its stage, and each ad impression carries an estimated revenue amount and its currency. We do not send your name, email or advertising ID. We never send your hero’s name or any text you type, and we do not send your save or a copy of your game: only the figures above, as counts, levels and identifiers of items, tied to the random ID. The full list of events is public in the app’s documentation. Turning the setting off stops new events from being collected, and the analytics software is shut down; a request already on its way when you tap can still arrive. PostHog’s privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy.
- Rewarded videos. If you choose to watch a rewarded video, it is provided by Google AdMob. In a version of Trailbread that has ads turned on, the Google Mobile Ads software may request ads in advance, so Google may receive an ad request from your phone even if you never watch one. Google may receive your IP address, your device’s advertising ID, technical information about your phone and the app, and what you do with the ad. Where a Google consent message is configured for your region, it is shown by the ads software, and you can review your choice later in Settings → Ad choices. If you turn off ad personalisation in your Android settings or in that form, the ads you see are less tailored. Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Trailbread shows no ads between screens and none you did not ask for.
- Purchases. If you buy something in the Shop (removing ads, or a cosmetic look), the payment is handled by Google Play, under Google’s own terms and privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We never receive your card details, name or email from Google Play. To know what you have bought, Trailbread asks RevenueCat each time it opens, including if you have never bought anything. RevenueCat receives a random identifier it creates for this app on your phone, the record of any purchase (what was bought, when, the price and currency, and Google Play’s receipt for it), basic technical information needed to answer, such as the app version, your phone’s make, model and Android version, its language settings and its country, and your IP address, which every internet request carries. It never receives your game. RevenueCat gives us purchase figures, such as sales and refunds, and shows us when each random ID first and last checked in. RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/.
- App updates. Trailbread may receive small updates to its own code without a new store version. If the version you have is set up for that, when it opens it asks Expo’s update service (u.expo.dev) whether an update is available. That request carries the app version, the update channel, a random ID the update software creates for this install, and your IP address. Expo’s privacy policy: https://expo.dev/privacy.
- Android backup. If backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Android may include Trailbread’s data in your phone’s backup to your Google account, as it does for other apps. That backup is managed by Google and your phone’s settings. We do not receive it. You can turn it off in your phone’s backup settings.
- Crash reports. Trailbread has no crash-reporting service of its own. If you have chosen to share diagnostics with Google, Google Play may receive crash reports for the app under Google’s terms.
- Nothing else. Trailbread does not use your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos.
3. What we never do
- We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- We do not read your contacts, messages or other apps.
- We do not use your information to build a profile of you outside Trailbread.
4. Who receives data
- PostHog, which receives anonymous usage events, including the gameplay figures described in section 2, for us, unless you turn them off.
- Google (AdMob), which provides rewarded videos, in a version with ads on.
- RevenueCat, which checks your purchases and gives us purchase figures on our behalf.
- Google Play, as the store and seller; and, if you use Android backup, Google holds that backup for you under your Google account.
- Expo, if the version you have checks for app updates.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. These services may process data in countries other than yours; each has its own privacy policy, linked above.
5. Your choices and rights
- Usage statistics. Turn them off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data.
- Ads. Watching a rewarded video is always your choice. Review your ad privacy choices in Settings → Ad choices, and limit ad personalisation or reset your advertising ID in your Android settings. In a version without ads, there is nothing to change.
- Your game. Settings → On this device lets you copy your save as text and delete your game progress on this phone. Deleting starts a new game. It does not remove your settings, your usage-statistics choice or the random ID, which stay until you uninstall Trailbread or clear its data; purchases you made stay with your Google account and can be restored from the Shop.
- Uninstalling Trailbread deletes what it stored on your phone, including the random ID, unless Android backup restores it on a reinstall. We hold no copy of your game. Events already sent to the analytics service, and purchase records at RevenueCat and Google, are kept by those services under their own policies.
- Asking us. Events and purchase records are tied to a random ID, not to you, and nothing links that ID to your name or email, so we usually cannot find your records to delete them on request. If you want to try, write to privacy@tezzvo.com with what you would like removed, and the Google Play order number of any purchase, and we will do what we can.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or LGPD), you have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your data, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Write to privacy@tezzvo.com and we will reply as soon as we can.
6. Security
What Trailbread stores is kept in the app’s private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot read. Requests to PostHog, Google, RevenueCat and Expo travel encrypted, as a rule over HTTPS. Save text you copy is protected only as well as the place you paste it.
7. Age
Trailbread is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used it, write to privacy@tezzvo.com.
8. Changes
If we change what Trailbread does with information, for example by adding an account or saving games online, we will update this page and the date at the top before that version reaches you.
